American Soldier

"And I will always do my duty no matter what the price
I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh and I don’t want to die for you, but if dyin’s asked of me
I’ll bear that cross with honor, cause freedom don’t come free.

I’m an American Soldier an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand

When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right
I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight
American Soldier, I’m an American, Soldier."

(If you don't know the song, check it out on YouTube - American Soldier, sung by Toby Keith.  Awesome tribute to the men and women in uniform.)

The first 5 photos are from the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico, VA.  The last 2 photos are from the Naval Aviation Monument at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach, VA.

Great post, Linda! Your photos are perfect for the lyrics to that song. We live in such a great area - with all the military presence here!

(By the way, new blog award for you today over at my place!)

Yours is a beautiful tribute too.

As a French national who decided to move to the U.S.A., I have great respect and am ever grateful for the U.S. military.

Great photos and tribute to the soldiers. I love this song. I used it in one of my theme song post too a while back.
If I am ever in Virginia I would love to visit the museum you mentioned.
Great post!
Happy Thursday!

Amazing how you always have the perfect photos for the song. I gotta know do you plan the song then go hunting for photos or is it just luck to find a song for shots you already have in your archives?

As always song and photo are your specialty. I thought for a minute you'd been out there on the front lines. Not a country fan, but I'll give a tiny listen to the song. I'm sure it's quite emotion filled. Happy day Linda.

I like how you've married the photos with the words here. Well done.

Very brave young men Linda. Tension is a little high here in Australia, we've just lost five of our fine young men in Afghanistan, so tragic.

What a fine tribute to our military!
Hats off to you for posting this!
Too many mock our military and our Constitutional values, but continue to enjoy the liberty our military and Constitutional values have provided them.
