Backyard Critters

We don't have a lot of wildlife in our suburban back yard, but things have been pretty busy lately.  We have a bunny living under our deck, and once and a while, we catch him (her) out.  I wasn't sure, but it looks like there was something on the baby's left ear.

We also saw the mother bunny in the front yard - she posed quite prettily for just a moment before she bounded away.

We have had a pair of mallard ducks exploring the back yard.  I guess I thought they would look for a nesting place near water, but maybe not.  Our back yard is fenced so maybe they feel safe there!

And then there was this squirrel, obviously all tuckered out after robbing the bird feeders...resting on top of the chain link fence!

We have provided ears of corn for these little scamps but they still prefer the bird feeders!

Hi Linda....playing 'catch-up' once again, I am. Awwwwwwwww, that squirrel is too cute for words. I just love watching them. Especially when they're scurrying away and that beautiful red bushy tail is up in the air. LOLOLOL

Rabbits and ducks...in your yard. Amazing. All we have is birds and cockroaches. [wink]

Oh and LOVE your old fences post below, that I missed since I last visited....the plantations AND the beautiful flowers. Oh those tulips...very pretty.

Ditto marks on all those animals in our yard too. Plus we have Canada geese - one pair with 2 goslings, and another pair with 3! Must be springtime, huh?

Have a great Mother's Day weekend!

Linda, I'm telling you, I think the squirrels just love the challenge and know that it drives us humans to distraction to watch them steal the bird food! I wouldn't be a bit surprised if your duck couple nest close by.

PS....Linda, I just read your comment you left for me today. And, regarding the wall sockets being behind the furniture...I have one like that by a couch...BEHIND the couch, and what I did was buy an extension cord that has the outlet covers that snap them closed...and leave it plugged in behind the couch, when I need to use the outlet, I don't have to move the couch out at all, just bend down and uncover the extension outlet and...there you have it.

Lots of wildlife around you! Wonder what that is on Baby Bunny's ear??! Our squirrels rarely eat what we GET for them - they prefer to steal from the birds....LOL

Yes, you've had quite a few wonderful visitors! I agree with TexWisGirl that those are ticks on the bunny's ear. We've got quite the infestation of ticks here :-(

I've been noticing a lot of bunnies this year, too, & I live in town... never seen so many around here! Not sure what that is on baby bunny's ear, ticks maybe? They sure are pretty, tho =)

Very cute photos -- I love all your backyard wildlife! We have many of the same but I can never get good photos of them -- I need a better camera and more patience I think -- LOL

Hi Linda, very cool to have the bunnies in your yard. They are so cute! And I love the ducks. My dog scares most of the backyard critters away except for my birds. Thanks for sharing your critters, have a great weekend!

I quite often see mallards in my urban area and we are at least a half mile from water.

Understand what you said. We live in town and birds, rabbits and squirrels are the extent of our yard visitors as well. But, those squirrels can be so disruptive and cause so much damage.

We have a giant cypress tree outside our bedroom window and there are at least three squirrel nest in the top of it. They can empty the bird feeder in a day and scatter it everywhere. I get sunflowers coming up the next year from the seed that gets buried.
