Barn Charm Tuesday

Who doesn't love a barn?  This one was a drive-by somewhere in Virginia, between Emporia and Suffolk.  My photography club has initiated a photo challenge this year - one photo each month, following specific guidelines, submitted for voting on by other members.  This month's challenge is black and white.  I have never done much of that (unless you count the years I shot with a Brownie!), so I have spent the last few days experimenting with black and white.  I tried this barn in black and white, but decided to use a sepia effect instead...just because I liked it!

Here is the original - not nearly so interesting!

poor thing looks like it's about to cave in in the center...nicely done!

It does look a bit dilapidated Linda, but I think it adds to it's charm. The sepia image has a nice vintage feel to it, which suits the condition of the barn.

I like how the shadows fall across the roof of this old charmer!

Actually, I rather LIKE the original!

I too grew up using a b & w brownie.

I think sepia is a wonderful choice for the barn. It's an interesting structure ...shape...and the "wavy" sagging roof.

Sepia version is perfect for this photo.

I agree that sepia gives it a certain air...I've always thought it makes a photo look "old" in a good way! Interesting barn with character....

Hi Linda, it is a wonderful old barn. It is great you are getting practice with different versions of your photo. The original is my favorite. Have a great day!
