Now You See Me...

Visiting one of our local river parks this week, we were very disappointed at the lack of visible wildlife, flora or fauna.  We cut the walk short and trekked back toward the car.  Hubby happened to notice movement in a small drainage ditch and directed my attention there.  I waited a minute and out popped a toad!  When I moved toward him, he slipped back in the culvert, but I knew he would surface again soon, so I stood very still, camera at the ready.  I was rewarded for my patience with this view.

He was a pretty good size...as you can tell in this other photo with the leaves...I don't know much more about him, other than he was green and big!

Great shots, Linda! You probably had to be patient to get those. At least your visit to the park wasn't completely in vain!

Mr. Toad obviously was happy to have some company - he posed quite nicely for his photo!

Love these images Linda...finally I can read posts/leave comments/and read the comments I rec'd this morning. Yesterday, nada...and I was having withdrawal symptoms by mid-afternoon. LOL

That that you left for me this morning...finding a 'nest of baby copperheads'...woulda freaked me out and I would've immediately called the realtor to put our house up on the market. [kidding on the realtor part, but NOT the freaking me out part]

Goodness gracious.

So the moral of the story is that patience pays off. Super photo and as you say they're had to get. Now I'm not up on frog identification so I will watch comments to see what it is.

Great photos. I especially like the second one where the toad is peaking out from behind the vegetation on the water.
