Monday Mural

This mural is entitled "Watching From The Past", and is 30' wide by 10' high.  It was completed in March of 2005.  It features red wolves, which were listed as endangered in 1967.  In 1980, when the last of the wild ones was placed in captivity, the red wolf was declared extinct in the wild.
A captive breeding program with 14 animals saved these beautiful creatures from the brink of extinction, and now there are approximately 250 red wolves in captivity and in the wild in the US.  There is a pair of them on St. Vincent's Island, off the coast of Apalachicola, FL, and 22 captive breeding facilities in the US.
Hidden in this mural are 2 pairs of eyes, 2 mice, and 1 squirrel.  The wolf eyes appear to follow you as you walk beside it.
I did manage to find 1 set of eyes!

Good Morning Linda!!! Now this one is most definitely my favorite so far...love animals, I do and then to have images hidden within a painting makes it all the more fun to view!! Excellent Mural today.

What a great mural. Our wildlife park was caring for a female red wolf last year...she was later transferred to another care facility.

amazing artistry capturing the endangered wolf. I like that it is painted on a wall. That's cool. I never can find things that are hidden in a picture... but those eyes surely are watching you!! Hard to miss. Have a great week.

Wonderful mural and a great idea to have a "seek and ye shall find" inside in it.
PS: I love your header photo too!

Always an awesome mural and photo. Good history of the wolf. I believe this is a smaller wolf then we have. Sadly habitat is being fragmented for these creatures.

what a fantastic mural. I'm happy they've been saved. (I made a salsa from the tomato/pears. added some red onion, cilantro, jalapeno, coconut aminos, lime juice). happy week to you Linda.

I like these muted colours (especially after some of the intensely bright murals some others have posted - my eyes needed a rest!)

Love the mural and how the wolf's eyes follow you as you move!

Lovely mural and a very worthy project. I can see why the hidden items would be hard to see. Delighted you showed me one of them.
