If It's Saturday, It Must Be Camera Critters!

Last year we visited Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, NC.  It is a fabulous park, with more kinds of waterfowl than I ever knew existed.  Here were some of my favorites from that trip.  Hope you enjoy them!

The bird with the fancy hairdo is a Blue-Crowned Pigeon!

Mandarin Duck - this was my favorite, just because of the exotic colors!

Cape Teal Duck

Black Swan and her young.

Demoiselle Crane

Barrow's Goldeneye

Sylvan Heights has over 1,500 ducks, geese, swans and exotic birds from around the world.  It is truly a birding paradise!

You have to wonder how that pigeon holds his head up??? I've never seen anything like that.
But you know the black swan has my heart!!

Ah, so that's a Barrow's goldeneye. I hear they occasionally fly east to the Great Lakes but I have never been lucky enough to see one ip close.

Nice photos. I love that plummed headdress on the blue-crowned pigeon. I've never seen a black swan before ... quite spectacular!
