I am working on a photography challenge at our photo club - black and white. This is something different for me - and very challenging! In addition to finding things that look striking in black and white, I am trying to figure out what others might find interesting, since the challenge involves voting by the membership. Not sure I have it yet, but am still trying. I still have a few more days in the month!
Okay, it wasn't all about food...
I am still not sure I have found anything worth submitting...still shooting. If you have any suggestions, I welcome any and all comments!
Also be sure to check out more photos over at This or That Thursday!

Well....one I have found that I think is super in black and white are 'faces'....even animal faces - especially with animals, their eyes. And if you have a chance, go to a mall and just randomly snap some images ---perhaps a mannequin or two. Let your imagination run wild. I think your banana sill life is good. Oh....and I can't leave without telling your the misty road image you're using for your header is just out of this world beautiful.
Isn't it amazing how everything looks different in black and white. (And not necessarily worse, as Paul Simon wrote!)
Good luck with your photography class - it looks interesting! I've never taken one, but that should be on my to-do list!
good pix baby
I really like your first shot! I think you are doing well with B&W so far.
Wow! These are stunning! Love the black and white!
Nice still shots. I think any old building done in B&W always stands out! Good luck with the challenge!
good for you! Black and white is always so much fun to shoot!
Many years ago almost all pictures were in black and white. Color is wonderful, but there is something more "unique" about black and white. I recently changed my fb page picture to black and white.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Great photo, I think your are doing great. Good luck with your challenge.
These look really nice. I like the flower best.
Oh I love those oreos.
your shots give added beauty to ordinary things.
Oh Linda! I love what you said at the start of your post! "I take so many photos just because I like the view". I lovelovelove the oreo cookie snap and not because it is FOOD :) Cool B/W macro with the focus on the cookie that has "oreo" and the blurred BG cookie with the crumbs in the white creamy center. I also like the 3rd one. They are all visually interesting and good captures don't you think? Lucky you taking a photo class!
These are wonderful...well done!!! I want to know how you got the background in the first three shots...that's always been a mystery to me.
I like what you've done with these Linda, B&W is just so fabulous! I agree with Hootin' Anni, portraits always look terrific in B@W.
